Ball Charity

London Press Club Ball
Thursday October 9, 2014
Royal Courts of Justice, The Strand. London

Put your glad rags on and get ready  to party – but be quick as tables are selling fast. This year marks a double anniversary for Britain’s media with two brilliant reasons to celebrate in style. The glittering London Press Club Ball reaches its landmark 10th anniversary as the highlight of the national media’s social and networking calendar.

But 2014 also marks the landmark 150th anniversary of the Journalists’ Charity itself, whose founding members included Charles Dickens and whose patron is Her Majesty the Queen.

Supported by all the main newspaper and media groups, the  lavish black-tie event is to be held in the magnificent splendour of The Royal Courts of Justice on Thursday 9th October. It begins with a champagne reception in the Long Gallery and a three-course dinner with wine in the Great Hall, accompanied by exciting entertainment and dancing, as well as a charity auction of ‘money can’t buy’ items. But for one night only each year, the Ball also recreates the magical, crackling buzz that was traditional ‘Fleet Street’ with enough gossip, chat and conversation to fill a month of diary columns.

Over the past decade the Ball has raised around £300,000 for the Journalists’ Charity which cares for writers past and present and their dependants who fall on hard times or need help, as well as running three care homes for retired journalists.
