This week saw a packed house at LSE’s largest auditorium for the Polis and London Press Club debate Migrants, Terror & the Media: reporting and responsibilities on the front line. Having sold out weeks in advance, those who were not able to join in person followed the debate on Twitter – and now it is available in audio form, courtesy of Polis
The event saw a top panel drawn from broadcast, digital and print journalism – Independent columnist Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, Channel 4 News international editor Lindsey Hilsum, Today chief correspondent Matthew Price; Buzzfeed senior reporter Rossalyn Warren; and Telegraph photo and video journalist William Wintercross – take differing views on the role of the media in crisis situations. Read our report here, the Journalism.co.uk article and the BBC Blog.
The topic will also be addressed at the Polis Journalism Conference 2016 Journalism & Crisis at the LSE New Academic Building on April 21, 9am-5pm. Free but booking required. Next up for the London Press Club is Kevin Maguire’s Hugh Cudlipp Lecture on March 1 at the Museum of London, The New Era of Pride in Journalism.
