This Tuesday (November 10) sees the ninth full-house event of 2015 for the London Press Club, Getting into sports journalism: is it a level playing field for all?
Stationers’ Hall is at capacity for the event, which is supported by Media Diversified and the Society of Editors, but whether you can join us in person or not you can be a part of the discussion on Twitter with the hashtag #sportsjournoslive. @LondonPressClub and @WritersofColour will be live-tweeting the event, which takes place from 7pm to 8pm.
How did our top panel – who work for the BBC, ESPN, the London Evening Standard, Sky Sports News, The Sun, The Times and more – get their breaks into this competitive field? Should media outlets also be considering a version of the Rooney Rule? These are just some of the questions that will be addressed by chair Amar Singh, London Evening Standard digital sports editor, and his panel: BBC Sport reporter Jessica Creighton; writer and broadcaster Gabriele Marcotti; Sun sports writer and Women in Football board member Vikki Orvice; and Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth.
