Booking is now open for this year’s London Press Club Awards Lunch – with discounts for Press Club members and those reserving tables or individual places in the next month.

With the General Election in mind this year’s lunch – which returns to Stationers’ Hall for the third consecutive year – is taking place a month earlier than usual, on Tuesday April 14. A 12.30pm drinks reception will be followed by lunch and the awards, with proceedings wrapping up by 2.45pm.

The categories for the awards are: Daily Newspaper of the Year, Sunday Newspaper of the Year, Business Journalist of the Year, Scoop of the Year, Blog of the Year, Reviewer of the Year, Broadcast Journalist of the Year as well as the Edgar Wallace Award. A high-profile speaker will be addressing the lunch.

Last year’s lunch saw the London Evening Standard and The Mail on Sunday take the respective newspaper of the year honours while other winners included The Sunday People, Nick Ferrari, Ian Birrell, The Financial Times and The Independent. Baroness Lawrence of Clarendon was presented with the special Londoner of the Year award by Daily Mail editor Paul Dacre.
